“Life on the ranch was never meant to be complicated. It’s early mornings, hard work, good horses, open country, and finding pride in the things you build with your own two hands. It’s a way of life rooted in family, freedom, and a deep respect for the land and the animals that make it all possible.”

Shanon & Deb Metcalfe
Shanon and Deb began the Metcalfe Horse Ranch program in 1991, alongside Shanon’s brother, Archie Metcalfe. Archie was an important part of those early years and of the foundation they began building together, and although he has since passed, his place in the history of the ranch remains an important part of their story.
The program started with PMU mares. When the PMU industry came to an end, Shanon and Deb decided to take the next step and put their full focus into building the strong American Quarter Horse breeding program they envisioned.
Over the years, they have continued to develop the ranch with a simple approach—good horses, hard work, and a lot of time spent doing what they love.
For Shanon and Deb, the ranch has always been about more than raising horses. It’s the everyday life that comes with it—the work, the animals, the projects, and the simple way of life they’ve built together
Ty & Teghan Metcalfe
Ty has always had a deep passion for horses and a strong appreciation for the breeding program his parents, Shanon and Deb, built.
As he grew older, he began developing a program of his own—slowly bringing in his own mares, raising his own foal crops, and becoming a part-owner in several of the stallions that have helped shape the program.
After Ty and Teghan were married, Teghan quickly found her own place within the ranch. With a growing passion for the horses and breeding program, she has taken on much of the social media, advertising, and promotion.
Together, Ty and Teghan make a great team, bringing their own strengths and ideas while building on the foundation Shanon and Deb established.
Their goal is to continue growing Metcalfe Horse Ranch and, in time, carry the ranch forward for the next generation.

Life is busy between rodeo, feeding cows, managing the ranch, and keeping up with her two kids.
She brings her own love of horses, ranching, and the Western way of life to the family program, continuing to be part of the Metcalfe story from her own corner of North Dakota.
